The Diary – 11-22-09

Today I felt like writing. School is three weeks away from being over. It’s been a long and hard journey. I’ve decided to take a break to focus on making money. This is the same predicament I found myself in when I went to guitar school in my twenties. I was unprepared financially to just study in school. This makes all the difference in whether a student succeeds in school. Achieving an education has always been tough for African Americans. Especially males.  Only twenty-three percent of African-Americans have a bachelor’s degree. Without the help of caring parents who know the value of education, black children (like myself) go into the world ill prepared. I’ll be taking at least a year off to save up to I can really focus on my studies next time I enroll in school.
