How many of us have to die

Before we rise up and say “No more”

Every hour somebody is dying

Shot dead

before we have a chance to live

And I was only nine

Take 100 of us

And we could have figured out

how to cure cancer

but those possibilities

are being extinguished

because someone didn’t learn

how to multiply
