I was looking through your choice of foods in your health log and thought I could offer you some advice. First congrats on losing eight pounds. Any loss of weight is a victory; you just want to adopt a diet that you will be able to lose more and sustain after all your weight has been lost. second congrats on getting out there and moving. That will also contribute to weight loss and overall better health. Okay now for some advice. First, it seems like you are eating alot of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are not bad in and of themselves but you have to make certain that if you eat them they must be clean and whole not processed. What does this mean? It means that if you eat bread it should be whole grain breads like ex whole wheat, millet, spelt. These whole grains contain fiber that will offset the insulin surge that people have from eating processed carbohydrates. Along with whole grains, lots of vegetables, and high fiber fruits (apples, bananas, pears, oranges) are also good to include because they have lots of fiber and antioxidants. Another non food that you have in your menu are the energy drinks. This would indicate that you need an energy boost. If you increase the amount of fiber and protein in your diet again clean/whole and not processed, you will find that you will have less insulin surges during the day which usually lead to fatigue and low energy states hence the need for an energy drink. You will find that the more fiber you have in your diet, the more effortlessly you can lose weight while enjoying food selections that will keep you full and satisfied. Also make sure you are vigilant for hidden sugars. Many foods that are low fat and low carb often have hidden sugars that can pack on the calories. Even lots of salad dressings have sugars added so you want to watch out for those also. All these sugar laden foods can lead to insulin surges which when they subside can lead to low energy and fatigue states. Also another good move is to begin adding vitamins to your regimine. For guys definitely a multivitamin, B-complex for stress, saw palmetto for prostate health and vitamin C for extra antioxidant protection. Eating six small meals a day will boost your metabolism and energy so I applaud you for that. If you want a good book on the merits of fiber for weight loss Fiber 35 by Brenda Watson is a good choice. There are a couple good books on clean eating one book is called The Eating Clean Diet by Tosca Reno and it talks about the merits of eating whole natural food. Well, that’s probably enough for now. Continue to exercise and adjust your diet for maximum weight loss and health. Good Luck!
