Never have I been more determined to get my financial life together than now. Last week, I lost all of my profits I gained and then some in a single trade. Again, another costly lesson of not putting stops in on my trades. I have about 10 weeks left before the fall semester starts and I still haven’t figured out how I’m going to replace my income if I leave my job. Last night, I had 6 trades. I was able to reduce my losses to only $28.20, however, I was bleeding pretty bad through out the night. I learned some very valuable lessons last night trading. Trend trading within a trading range don’t last very long. My first trade went south on my and I cut my losses around $50.00. Four out of five trades resulted in a profit reducing my loss to only -$28.20. Opportunities only present themselves once Had I placed a short when the trend reversed instead of thinking it was going to shoot to them moon, I would have made a nice profit. Last night, I made 6 trades on the EUR/USD. I don’t know if I’m getting extremley lucky or I’m really learning how to trade. I am trading within the 5 minute charts trends and break-outs, either up or down. The problem was I’m doing this in the wee hours of the morning when I wake up throughout the night. I was able to bring my lot size up to 3. I’m making certain mental rules as I go, like waiting for confirmations rather than trading within the five minute bar. Last night I started trading again. With only 77 days left before school, I need make $129.00 per day or $650 per week. I fell short by quite a bit. I made $40.80 within six trades. I’ve been lucky these last few days. I placed a trade to buy the EUR/USD after Ben Bernanke spoke a few days ago. My thinking was that the market would trade back up being that it was only a speech and no fundementals behind it. Luck would be in my corner as European Central Bank President Jean- Claude Trichet spoke about rasing interest rates next montha and the EUR/USD rose over 100 pips only to retrace Bernanke’s speech. After closing out my position when I got home because of the unemployement rate was coming out and I didn’t know which way it would go, I bailed out of the market after making a few trades during the night for $30.00 profit. Yesterday, if I had stayed in my trade I would have made a profit. However, I thought the auto sales report that was due out that morning would catch me on the wrong side of the trade so I closed out my position at a $70.00 loss. When I arrived at work, I seen the EUR/USD drop almost 150 pips. Why? The auto sales report was out already. What I didn’t know was Ben Bernanke, Chairman of the Federal Reserve was giving a speech in Barcelona, Spain at the International Monetary Conference. This provided me with a valuable lesson. It was a very difficult decision. I was down from two trades last night. One, where I lost only $17.00. I bought 1 lot of the EUR/USD and it reversed on me. I closed out the position and thought it was going to go past 1.5500. It never did. Then I reversed my position and when short the EUR/USD and at 1:00 a.m. in the morning, the bulls ran the market past 1.5600.  The trouble here is I can’t trade at night because I’m too tired and I can’t concentrate during the day because I’m working.
