It’s been a few days since my trial of WordTracker. I’ve been trying to get a handle on how to use the system. I’ve only been able to watch 1 video tutorial that they’ve sent me as a part of my trial.

What I’ve learned is that keywords and its uses is a broad subject. It almost like having a discussion on sex. Sex can fall into many catagories. The use of keywords is no different. My intention at this point is to investigate the various uses of keywords as I explore my trial of WordTracker.

Title Tags

Using keywords withing the title tags is a search engine optimization technique. In WordPress, I wasn’t able to find the title tag in any of the php files. The title tags are automatically written in WordPress from the options tab. Once you click on Options, it is the first line “Blog Title”. <title> </title> will automatically be created.

I used WordTracker to find out what were some of the popular searches for blogs. Blogger Tips, Blogger Tips and Tricks came up. As you can see, I changed my title to reflect the keywords I found.

Bruce Clay has a nice free search engine optimization tool that helps you to “How to Identify Your Competition”  My number one competition for the keywords “blogging tips” is www.bloggingtips.com.

 KeyWord Research

Seeing that last week most of my traffic came from Entrecard, I decided  I would start testing some of the theories and ideas behind traffic building  using keywords and search engine optimization.

One of the S.E.O. tools suggested to use was WordTracker. So today I signed up for a 7 day trial.

With the 7 Day Trial, I started with downloading the step-by-step 47 page guide, “Using WordTracker”.

The guide first start off by explaining that keywords are the “foundation” for internet marketing and search engine ranking. Peter Kent, author of the book, “Search Engine Optimizatin for Dummies” points out that you can either guess at your keywords or you can use a tool like professional WordTracker.

With my trial I also recieve access to it’s WordTracker Acadamy. This section offers access to a free downloadable Ebook,  articles, tips and tricks to using its service.

I’m going to send the rest of the day getting aquainted with WordTracker and each day for my trial period offering my assesement of the service. Stay tuned.

Traffic Report

This week I stopped over at Problogger and watched Darren’s weekly video. In the video, Darren displayed one of his webtracking tools called Site Meter. I signed up for it and I thought it was an awesome analytic tool. I’m still using WordPress Blog Stats plugin, and Shiny Stat, however Site Meter seems offers a bit more. Here’s one example.

None of the other web analytical programs allowed me to save the graphic image of my traffic and post on my blog.

So as you can see, I’m hovering around 25 hits a day, mostly coming from Entrecard and other forums.

This week, I’m going to implement the ideas from this article I read entitled “Keyword Reseach for Bloggers“ found on Copyblogger’s blog.

I also took the ideas from E Business Guy’s post and installed All in One SEO Pack 1.4.6.6.

With all these changes, I should see a major change in traffic next week.

Yesterday, I went to a very famous blogger’s website (who recently recorded a video about his personal moments in the bathroom) and clicked on a link to another article. All of a sudden, this music video pops up, moving to each corner to make it hard for me to close it out. I freaked out because I was at work. I finally was able to catch that X close button. When I started clicking it, I would get these messages. I would click again and another message would come up. At this point, the music is coming through my headphones pretting loud. So, I tried to pull the headphones out of the back of the computer to shut them off…. Now it’s even louder and this music video is blasting through the entire office. Mr. J.C. that was the worst April Fool’s joke you could have played on anyone. People can loose their job over B.S. like that.
