I posted a question about buying a domain name for programs I start promoting. No one had responded. I later started looking at affiliate mareketers blogs. I stumbled upon the answer to my question on Shawn Collins’s Affiliate Tips’ blog.

Doing a bit more research at work, I found out that you can’t redirect to the company’s landing page on Google.

I was able to find some great information on Uber Affiliate’s blog. He’s create an affiliate marketing guide. A great amount of the information I read is leading me to start with Yahoo until I learn how to create a landing page or pick one niche to start with.

Over the last few days, I’ve been taking the steps outlined in the book “Affiliate Millions.” I’ve signed up for the Pepperjam Network, Commission Junction, and LinkShare Network. 

With all these networks, their is a waiting period for approval. Yesterday, I was approved for two affiliate programs. The challenge now is trying to figure out how to promote them. It looks as if I’m going to have to purchase a url to associate with each program. I’m waiting for approval from the other programs to determine which program to invest into.

One of the books I picked up yesterday was “Affiliate Millions” by Anthony Borelli and Greg Holden.

This book put my understanding of affilitate marketing right in perspective. Borelli has broken affiliate marketing and all of its counterparts into a comprehensive read. There is no hype here. He breaks everything down and then walks you through step-by-step how to get started.

I signed up as an affiliate with Borders (Amazon) to get me started. I’m going to start my click campaign next.

I can’t believe how long it’s been since I last blogged. Right now, it’s 2:09 am in the morning. I’m finding myself tossing and turning and can’t sleep.

First, I like to say that I’ve reviewed the Profit Lance course. Wednesday, I requested a refund for the course. I found it’s just not worth $77.00. Here’s my reason why. Not 100% orignial material. If you put together a course, at least make it your own material. It seemed at lot of the material were pdf files on topics related to affiliate marketing.

Trying to get my refund was a challenge too. Clickbank doesn’t have a customer service number that you can call directly on their website. I had to Google the name of the company until I found a telephone number for them. Why not make your telephone number for customer service more visable on your website Clickbank?

I decided there must be a better way to learn affiliate marketing. So, I went out today and bought a printer, and two books on affiliate marketing. Now that my college class is ending, I can focus more on learning how to make money online.

Ok, enough already. It’s been 5 days and I’ve yet to begin a project here. Where’s the beef?

 After work, I was able to log onto Profit Lance and view again all of the content. I particually wanted to focus on the affiliate marketing section.  

After reading a few PDF files, it seems the next step for me is to choose a affiliate program and start promoting (generating traffic). Profit Lance lays out 9 ways to generate traffic. None of these are secrets, however, he does provide E-books that go into great detail. I’m starting with Pay Per Click.

I started my morning by viewing the Profit Lance Course tutorial videos. All five video took less than an hour. They basically acclimated me to the website.

After viewing the course, I was impressed. I thought this was the best $77.00 investment I could ever make. Here’s why.

• Everything is in one area.

Michael Andrews (the course creator) has created within the website a learning center. Within that learning center are video tutorials, ebooks, and resources to explain step-by-step concepts of internet marketing. 

• The Video Tutorials

I don’t know about you, but I can learn much better watching a video versus reading a book. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading books, but videos with sound and pictures allow me to stop, pause and rewind.

• Experience

I have to admit, I’ve been a skeptic to most of the courses that are promoted. I’ve always felt (until yesterday) that I could learn everything their teaching from the internet. I mean, that’s where they learned. My attitude changed once I read Michael’s personal story in the F.A.Q. section of the Lance Proft member’s website. Michael didn’t know anything about affiliate marketing or internet marketing in 2004. He learned from the school of hard knocks. I’ve personally been enrolled in that school for more years that I care to mention. This course encompasses years his experience. I could have stayed enrolled in the same school but why? I feel the value that I will receive  from this course the $77.00 will just be a tip.

It’s been a over a month since I started The Blog Novice. A lot of the ways that you can make money blogging have been quite slow. From building traffic to waiting three months for some of the pay per post to approve your blog. What does one do in the mean time to earn money? This lead me into looking at some ways other bloggers were making money online. This lead me to opening an account with ClickBank today. I suppose you have to be a little flexable to the ways you want to earn money online.

ClickBank is a largest digital marketpalce. It’s where producers of courses like “The Rich Jerk” are offered to affiliate marketers. Once I signed up I was able to view a few of the “landing pages” that potential customers would go to if I promoted a particular program.

Once page was extremely convincing to me, that was ProfitLance.com. One of the video presentations showed a guy going out to a mailbox to pick up his check. I think the first one was for under $200.00. This wasn’t the part that sold me. It was the next time he picked up a check. It was for over $7,000.00.  Then, he drives to cash the check and shows the entire amount in 100.00.  Sold!!! How much is this course? Only $77.00??? I get an eight week money-back guarntee to from ClickBank if I’m not satified after eight weeks? Woah.. No brainer. Here’s my credit card info.

I was able to watch read the introduction pdf file and 12 minutes of the first of 4 introduction videos. So far, so good. I now have something to blog about for the next 8 weeks.

 Permalinks and Keywords

Everyday as I trek along the path to learning search engine optimization, I stumble upon some little tricks to getting web traffic.

 Today, I learned about Peremlinks. Each post in your blog is given a unique url. I’ve been using WordPress’s default settings.

• Default
• Date and name based
• Numeric
• Custom

The default will create a url with a /?p=123. From what I understand (theory) if you change it to include date and name based, the title of your post will in up in the new url giving it a greater chance to be picked up by the search engines.

Traffic Report Week ending 4/12/08

This week I’ve been able to increase or double my traffic on a few days just from the forums and Entrecard. The spike in last Saturday’s traffic came from my post entry into StumbleUpon. Interesting enough, some of my post didn’t generate hardly any traffic at all from StumbleUpon.

What I realize this week activities is I can only go so far with the sources I’m using now. I’ve decided to bring out the video camera. I’m going to venture into video blogging. I’m planning to create a video blog on the social networks about my personal life. Kind of like a soap opera. That means I have to create a life of drama now.  I’m going to document how much traffic this will generate.

I’m very excited with the response from bloggers wanting to particpate in my Blogger’s Mastermind Group.

 Just to let you know that anyone can particpate in my group. It won’t be closed off to members only as some others are. Also, I won’t be asking for any member fees.

I just had a brainstorm of an idea while responding to a beginner blogger like myself. I just thought of creating a mastermind blogger’s group. There is so much information out here that it hard to cover it all. What if we had a few serious bloggers who got together everyday on a topic like creating web traffic, css design, or search engine optimization? I’m going to be creating a page specifically for this. If anyone is interested, leave a comment and addtional details will be sent. I think this is a great idea that will benefit all bloggers.
