Entrecard
Last night I signed up for Entrecard. I didn’t really know what to expect. However, when I work up this morning, I read an interview with Graham Langdon, the 22 year old owner of Entrecard. I was impressed. When I got to work to discover more about Entrecard, I was hooked on the service.
Entrecard offers a way for bloggers to drop what are considered business cards at websites that have the Entrecard widget. This allows you to gain points for adverstising.
What I liked most is the custom designs of the Entrecards, the forum, and the way Graham has catagorized the blogs.
Bloggers have already created something which they call “speed dropping” in which they will visit a blogger’s website, drop their card and go to the next. However, I think they’re really missing the “gold” by not stopping to read some of the members blogs. There were so many good articles that I read from the marketing catagory. This alone was worth joining.
Today Hits (19)
My goal is to build my web traffic to average about 200 hits per day. I think I’ve figured out my blog stats problem and why the hits were off. It’s because of the timing. My WordPress blog stats plugin were off by 5 hours. I hope in a few days it will get sync with my other web analysis program.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI agree with you buddy. Speed dropping means you miss out on good blogs and defeats the purpose of marketing your blog, which is to pull in quality traffic.
Increased comments and new blogs to read is the better payoff from entrecard right now, rather than increased traffic alone (which is nice but below the other two).

hey - welcome to EC. There are a few of us that are very much anti-”speed dropping” of which I remain a committed member. Of course, if I come to site that is craptacular then of course I drop and pop, but there really is a LOT of great articles of there. I’m not as crazy on the money-making or marketing categories, but I can see the allure for you, given your site topic. Anyway, cheers and all the best!

@Acadia,
No, that’s not me. That’s a picture I got off of Flick.

Welcome to entrecard, I think you’ll easily start getting the 200 hits per day goal within a couple weeks using the community. In fact my goal this month was to get 6000 vistors (about 200 per day), and I achieved that last week. Good luck!

Don’t forget Phirate who is in NZ, the tech genius behind Entrecard.

I always drop a card and then read the site. If I find something to read that interests me I comment. If I’m really interested I add it to favourites to come back regularly.
I think you can tell pretty easily which bloggers actually read the sites and which just drop cards looking for drop backs. Check the forums and see which of them are always posting about traffic and rankings, that’s a big tip off too.
Welcome to EC.
